Keith Urban’s recent change to the lyrics of his song “The Fighter” during a live performance has sparked rumors about his relationship with his bandmate Maggie Baugh. This comes shortly after the country star and actress Nicole Kidman announced their separation, ending nearly 20 years of marriage. Urban’s lyric change, which included Baugh’s name, has fans wondering if there’s more to their connection.
Who Is Maggie Baugh?
Maggie Baugh is a rising country artist from Boca Raton, Florida. She started playing violin at six and by age 11 had performed at Carnegie Hall. Despite not growing up in a musical family, Baugh found her passion for music early and moved to Nashville at 18 to pursue a career in country music.
She has performed in various venues, including the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Grand Ole Opry, where she made her debut in December 2024. Baugh released her debut album, ‘Dear Me,’ in 2023 and is preparing to release her second album, ‘Entertainers Heart,’ later this year.
Currently, Baugh tours with Keith Urban as his utility player and guitarist on his High and Alive World Tour. She shared on Instagram that her first show with Urban was the 2024 Country Music Television Awards, and she expressed gratitude for the opportunity to tour worldwide.
The Lyric Change and Rumors
During a September 26 performance, Urban altered the lyric from “When they’re tryna get to you, baby I’ll be the fighter” to “When they’re tryna get to you, Maggie I’ll be your guitar player.” Baugh posted the clip with the caption, “Did he just say that👀,” adding emojis that hinted at surprise.
Urban originally wrote “The Fighter” about his wife, Nicole Kidman, describing it as a vow to protect and care for her. With their divorce now public, the lyric change has raised questions about Urban’s relationship with Baugh, though no official confirmation or comments have been made.
