The Nebraska Cornhuskers (3-0) will open Big Ten play on Saturday when they welcome the Michigan Wolverines (2-1) to Memorial Stadium. Nebraska finished the nonconference portion of the schedule 3-0, marking the second consecutive season in which the Huskers enter league play with an undefeated record. The Cornhuskers had a 20-17 victory over Cincinnati, followed by two blowout wins, 68-0 over Akron and 59-7 over Houston Christian.
Michigan opened the season with a 34-17 win over New Mexico before hitting the road and falling to Oklahoma in Norman. They would recover the following week, defeating Central Michigan 63-3.
Saturday’s game will be the 14th meeting all-time between these two programs, with the Wolverines leading the all-time series 8-4-1. The game will also serve as Nebraska’s Big Ten opener. The last time the Huskers won a conference opener was a 2019 victory at Illinois. Since joining the conference, the Huskers are 6-8 in Big Ten openers.
Michigan enters Saturday’s game No. 21 in the latest US LBM Coaches Poll. Nebraska is 0-5 against ranked teams under Matt Rhule’s leadership. The program last had a win over a ranked opponent in 2016, when the Huskers defeated No. 22 Oregon in Lincoln.
