New England Patriots coach Mike Vrabel ruled out cornerback Christian Gonzalez and defensive end Keion White for Sunday’s road game against the Miami Dolphins.
He confirmed the news when speaking with media members on Friday.
Gonzalez is still dealing with a nagging hamstring injury, while White has been sidelined with an illness. Both players being absent is a major hit to the defense heading to South Beach for the AFC East divisional tilt. The Patriots are 17-43 when facing the Dolphins on the road.
So they will have their work cut out for them in slowing down Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and company.
The good news for the Patriots is that the Dolphins looked like a walking disaster in their season opener against the Indianapolis Colts. If they can get their run game going and quarterback Drake Maye can make enough plays, there’s a good chance that they can pull off an upset.
