Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa couldn’t blame fans after they booed during a 33-27 loss to the New England Patriots on Sunday.

Tagovailoa said he and his squad “don’t look the part” after an 0-2 start to the season.

“I didn’t see any of that but did hear the boos. It’s part of the game,” he said. “The fans pay their hard-earned money to come and see their team play, and we go out there and we don’t look the part as we have in previous years. It’s all understandable, and it comes with the game. You get the boos, you get the cheers. It’s just like anything else. You get the highs, you get the lows.”

The Dolphins appeared on their way to being contenders during head coach Mike McDaniel’s first two seasons, but they’ve been far from it recently. After an 8-9 finish to the 2024 campaign, Miami began the season with an embarrassing 33-8 loss to the Indianapolis Colts in Week 1.

The Fins looked better on Sunday, but still came up short against their division rival.

Tagovailoa hasn’t done much to rave about so far, throwing for just 114 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions in Week 1. He was slightly better on Sunday with 315 yards and a pair of touchdowns, but he still gave away an interception.

Next week, the Dolphins will face the Buffalo Bills, giving them the chance to either pick up a big win and reset the course of their season, or fall to 0-3.
