A tragic accident occurred earlier Tuesday, September 2, in Abiriba, Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State, when a trailer loaded with tiles and foreign doors lost control and crashed opposite Enuda High School, Agbo Court, Abiriba.
Eyewitnesses at the scene reported that the crash was devastating, leaving four people dead on the spot. Five others sustained severe injuries and were immediately rushed to the Okezie Ikpeazu Midwifery Hospital, Akahaba, Abiriba, where they are currently receiving medical attention.
The incident has thrown the community into mourning, as residents described the scene as “highly disturbing.” Images from the crash site, which are too graphic for public display, depict the extent of the tragedy.
Efforts are ongoing to reach the Abia State command of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) for official comments and further details on the cause of the accident.
Authorities are expected to commence investigations, while locals have appealed for urgent measures to prevent future road tragedies in the area.
