    • Commissions newly constructed access roads in Giri district

At the commissioning of newly constructed access roads in the Giri District of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), President Bola Tinubu, represented by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, lavished high praise on the Minister, Nyesom Wike, describing him as the very embodiment of the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The President highlighted how Wike’s visionary leadership is driving transformative development in communities long neglected and left in the shadows.

President Tinubu declared: “Honourable Minister, you are not just a leader; you are a beacon of renewed hope. The roads we commission today in Giri are more than mere infrastructure—they are bridges of inclusion, instruments of national unity, and a testament to your quiet diligence and visionary leadership that have reshaped the Federal Capital Territory.”

He underscored Wike’s exceptional role in localising and actualising the administration’s vision. “You have embraced the Renewed Hope Agenda fully, made it meaningful, and turned it into reality. From Maitama to Gwagwalada, from Kabusa to now Giri, your leadership has brought progress closer to the people,” Tinubu said.

He continued, “These newly constructed access roads are not just achievements in concrete and asphalt; they are powerful statements of intent—opening up Giri District and the entire FCT to opportunity and growth. Under your stewardship, no community is too small, no area too remote, and no citizen too insignificant to benefit from the dividends of democracy.”

President Tinubu also expressed deep gratitude to Wike for his commitment to good governance, remarking, “Thank you for reminding us that good governance is not about fanfare, but about footsteps. Your actions have brought quality and excellence to communities long left behind.”

He said, “The roads we commission here today in Giri District are more than access ways. They are bridges of inclusion, signals of recognition, instruments of national unity. They remind us that development must reach the outskirts just as it touches the surface.”

He concluded with a hopeful vision for the people of Giri: “May these roads carry your children to school, farmers to markets, families to healthcare, and dreams to reality. I am proud of what we celebrate today and committed to replicating such milestones nationwide.”

Wike, on his part, expressed deep gratitude to President Tinubu, the National Assembly, and all stakeholders who supported the project. “Today marks the 13th day since we began commissioning projects on Tuesday, June 10. I want to sincerely thank the Speaker for representing Mr President multiple times, including here in Giri,” Wike said.

Addressing concerns about land management in Giri, the minister revealed decisive actions to curb unauthorised land grabbing. “The University had grabbed 11,000 hectares without documentation. I said that will not happen. We have carved out 4,000 hectares for the University, and other lands will be reallocated properly. We cannot allow fencing without documents,” he stated firmly.

Wike also highlighted the district’s future potential as a hub for institutions like the EFCC Academy and the University, promising continued infrastructure development. “We have instructed relevant agencies to plan further roads within the district. Within a year, Giri will look very different,” he assured.

He praised the contractors for their quality and timely work, saying, “I visited the site six times to ensure standards were met. The Levante management kept their promise, and this partnership will help Abuja develop to its full potential.”

Represented by the Secretary to the Commission, Muhammad Hammajoda, the EFCC expressed profound gratitude to President Tinubu, Wike, and the National Assembly for facilitating the road construction to the EFCC Academy’s permanent site.

“My assignment this morning is simple but significant,” the representative said. “Upon assuming office, the major challenge was accessing the site. The Honourable Minister of FCT, Mr Project, came to our rescue and delivered the road in record time.”

He underscored the academy’s future role as a centre of excellence for financial crimes enforcement, training, and cybercrime research. “This road will not only provide vital access but also boost economic and social activities in this corridor,” he added.

FCT Minister of State, Mariya Mahmoud, reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to infrastructure and inclusive development. “This project is yet another shining example of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda shaping the transformation of the nation’s capital,” she said.

She praised Minister Wike’s dynamic leadership, noting that the road is part of a broader initiative to open underserved communities and stimulate economic activities across the FCT’s area councils.
