As a heated Pilates instructor who teaches for over six hours weekly in a 100-plus degree room, sweating isn’t optional — it’s just part of my life. And over time, I’ve learned that sweat is both my body’s best friend and my skin’s biggest test. On one hand, it boosts endorphins, helps detox the body, and delivers that post-class glow. On the other hand, it can trigger breakouts (sending love to my fellow acne-prone girlies), cause irritation, and leave me looking more disheveled than dewy if I’m not careful.

After years of battling cystic acne, I’d accepted that less-than-perfect skin was just the price of doing what I love. But then I met my esthetician, the only person I trust with my skin, Nichola Weir from Pacific Touch NYC. She taught me that the right prep and post-class care can make all the difference, and that something as simple as keeping my hair out of my face matters more than I realized. Now, I’ve got a lineup of the best sweat-proof products I swear by that keep my skin calm, my breakouts in check, and my slicked-back buns looking polished.

I’m a major multitasker at heart, and hair masking while I teach my heated classes is the ultimate habit stack. It keeps my strands out of my face (hello, fewer breakouts), protects my hair while I sweat, and makes my slicked-back buns look even sleeker. I’m obsessed with Allyoos’ Juice Drench Hair Mask because I can actually feel the difference when I rinse it out. My hair is smoother, shinier, and way more hydrated.

Unlike other hair masks I’ve tried that weigh my hair down, this one is light, incredibly effective, and leaves my strands feeling fresh, not flat. I’m also a huge fan of the tropical, citrusy scent and the clean formula — it’s silicone-free, cruelty-free, and acne-safe (which my esthetician Nichola Weir always reminds me is crucial when it comes to hair products). This mask is basically a green juice for your hair, and it delivers.

The secret weapon to an even sleeker, slick-back style? A hair wax stick — the genius product that has completely changed my pre-class routine. After trying a few that left my hair feeling heavy, sticky, and impossible to wash out, I finally found the one: Emi Jay’s Angelstick. It gives me that strong hold I need to power through class, without the gunky buildup. And it actually nourishes my hair in the process (another habit stack — are you catching on?).

Formulated with conditioning ingredients like candelilla and castor seed oil, this magic stick smooths my flyaways, adds shine, and keeps me looking polished during the sweatiest, steamiest sculpt classes. Even through my four-minute plank variations (literally dripping sweat just thinking about it), my bun stays snatched and my skin stays clear.

When it comes to pre-class skincare, Weir says it’s totally fine to skip a full routine if you’re working out early in the morning. So when I’m teaching my 7 a.m. classes, I ditch the serums, splash my face with warm water, and apply a light moisturizer and acne-friendly SPF. No makeup, no fuss, just hydration and protection before the sweat starts.

My go-to SPF for both pre- and post-class? Colorescience Sunforgettable Total Protection Face Shield Flex SPF 50. It’s lightweight, mineral-based, and safe for sensitive skin. And somehow, still manages to look good. It comes out white, then blends seamlessly to match my skin tone, providing just enough coverage to even out my complexion and help me feel put together without wearing makeup. After I shower, I just reapply it and head out the door — no foundation necessary.

    YSE Wide Awake Eye Cream

Early mornings are no joke, and YSE’s Wide Awake Eye Cream is my go-to for looking refreshed without the hassle and breakouts that come with a full makeup routine. It’s a genius product that works like a concealer (bye-bye dark circles) but also delivers the nourishing benefits of an eye cream.

IYKYK: Most eye products sting when sweat gets in or near your eyes. Not this one. It stays put and never smudges, even during my sweatiest 50-minute classes. After every session, my eyes still look bright and awake. Coffee is still a must, of course. But this multitasking hero is perfect for making me feel confident, no matter how much I sweat (or how early it is).

Sephora Tower 28 SOS Daily Rescue Facial Spray

If I can’t wash my face right after teaching (which, TBH, happens more than I’d like to admit), I reach for Tower 28’s SOS Daily Rescue Facial Spray. It uses hypochlorous acid, which Weir recommends in a pinch. She always reminds me that sitting in sweat for too long can disrupt your skin’s microbiome and break down your barrier, making it more prone to breakouts. And this spray helps kill acne-causing bacteria after super sweaty classes, buying me time until I can do my full skincare routine.

It’s refreshing, calming, and doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin. I keep a bottle in my gym bag and spritz it on the second I’m off the mat. It’s definitely not a replacement for proper cleansing, but it’s the perfect quick fix when I’m chatting with clients and can’t race to the sink right away.
