And that’s not all: The Do The Right Thing director also has plenty of stock Daytonas, Jaeger-LeCoultre Reversos, and other Rollies in his rotation. Despite all that firepower, however, it’s the Knicks-themed pieces that feel truly right at home in the director’s rotation. That now includes a $270 plastic-cased watch that anybody can collect.

Pete Davidson’s Rolex Cosmograph Daytona
Appearing at the world premiere of his new comedy The Pickup in LA, Pete Davidson wore the Rolex Cosmograph Daytona ref. 126509, a white gold execution with a matching bezel and a steel “panda” dial with black chronograph totalizers. Though it doesn’t look all too different from steel models with similar features, this one—with a matching white gold Oyster bracelet—will set you back about $52K. (Davidson was also spotted recently wearing a blue-dialed Submariner “Smurf” as well as a new Datejust, proving his Rolex bona fides. He’s also been spotted in a $35 G-SHOCK, in case that’s more your vibe.)

Scottie Scheffler’s Rolex Submariner “Starbucks”
Hoisting the Claret Jug after winning the 153rd Open Championship at Royal Portrush Golf Club, American golfer Scottie Scheffler wore his beloved Rolex Submariner ref. 126610LV. Also known as the “Starbucks,” this is the current-catalog sequel to the beloved “Kermit,” the 50th-anniversary Sub that dropped back in 2003 with a black “Maxi” dial and a green bezel. While the Kermit starts around $13,000 on the secondary market and climbs from there, the modern “Starbucks” lists for $11,200, if you can find an AD willing to sell you one. (These two watches share some notable differences, however: The “Kermit” uses the old-style case common to past generations of 400mm Subs, while Scheffler’s watch measures 41-mm with a Cerachrom bezel insert.)

Meryl Streep as Miranda Priestly’s Cartier Tank Française
Look out, aspiring fashion (and watch) editors—Miranda Priestly is back! Spotted while filming The Devil Wears Prada 2, Meryl Streep wore a Cartier Tank Française in yellow gold with a matching bracelet, a cool silvered sunray dial with grey Roman indices, and a quartz movement. The Tank Française, released in 1996, was the first Tank model designed with a matching bracelet—a strict departure from what was historically a daintier dress watch on a leather strap. The bracelet has the effect of transforming the Tank into an everyday piece. It’s interesting to note that Priestly didn’t wear a watch in the first movie but when tasked with outfitting one of the most powerful and tasteful women in fashion, the costume directors went with a Cartier Tank. A fitting choice if we say so ourselves.

Ryan Gosling’s TAG Heuer Carrera Date
Ryan Gosling’s gig as TAG Heuer ambassador extraordinaire continues apace. The star of the upcoming Project Hail Mary film took to Comic-Con dressed in a down-to-Earth getup of jeans, button-down, Caterpillar trucker hat, and TAG Heuer Carrera Date watch with a 39-mm steel case, silver dial, and matching multi-link bracelet. Priced at $3,600, it’s one of the more affordable versions of the Carrera, the racing chronograph designed by Jack Heuer in the early 1960s that has since become a horological mainstay. Gosling has appeared in a wide variety of these time-and-date watches since he announced his TAG ambassadorship back in 2021, which coincided with the launch of the newer, pared-down Carrera models.
