South Africa wicket-keeper Quinton de Kock will mark a U-turn from his ODI retirement after two years, as he was named in the Proteas 50-over squad for the upcoming tour of Pakistan in October on Monday. With regular captain Temba Bavuma ruled out of the longer formats, the Saffers have also named three different captains for the extensive all-format tour.
South Africa is set to start their World Test Championship mace defence with a two-match Test series against Pakistan, and in Bavuma’s absence, senior batter Aiden Markram will lead the side. The matches will take place from October 12th to October 24th in Lahore and Rawalpindi.
David Miller is set to captain the T20I squad while Matthew Breetzke will lead the ODI side. Additionally, Donovan Ferreira will be the captain for the T20I match against Namibia on October 11 in Windhoek.

The 32-year-old de Kock was named in both limited-overs sides, gearing up for his first ODI since retiring at the end of the 2023 ODI World Cup in India. The stylish left-hander was among the most prolific batters in ODI cricket in the previous decade, amassing over 6700 runs with 21 centuries, the joint-third most for the Proteas.
