Tuesday teams across the league made their final cuts to get down to the 53-man roster limit. Today they go about putting together a practice squad. those squads can be up to 16 players. So, in light of that, I have chosen 16 players from the Raiders cuts who I are more deserving of a return to the practice squad.
QB Cam Miller — The rookie sixth round pick deserves a shot to develop.
RB Sincere McCormick — He showed some flashes as a starter last season.
WR Shedrick Jackson — Led the Raiders in receiving every game this preseason.
WR Tommy Mellott — Making a position change at this level isn’t easy. They had to think that takes time when they chose him in the sixth round.
WR Alex Bachman — Seemed a lock to make the roster until they signed Amari Cooper. Bachman made some nice catches in practice and preseason. Deserves to be the first call if needed.
TE Carter Runyon — The undrafted rookie showed surprising hands and speed and the Raiders only kept three tight ends on the active roster.
T Dalton Wagner — They need a tackle on the practice squad and he is a decent option.
G Laki Tasi — For having just started playing football a few months ago and just now switching to offensive line, he’s shown great promise.
DT Treven Ma’ae — The undrafted free agent shined in preseason.
DT Zach Carter — Was a solid contributor last season for the Raiders.
DE Andre Carter II — Led the team with two sacks this preseason.
DE Ovie Oghoufo — Does some good special teams work.
LB Amari Gainer — Was a mainstay on special teams last season and through preseason this year as well.
LB Matt Jones — Undrafted free agent who was often seen with the second team defense. He’s a project, but has the tools.
CB Greedy Vance — Undrafted free agent who looked like he had a real shot to crack the roster with some strong play in practice and in preseason games.
S Terrell Edmunds — The former first round pick came into camp late and didn’t look out of place. Seems a good fit with the Raiders.
