Surrey have added India spinner Rahul Chahar to their squad for the last County Championship game of the season with the league title going down to the wire.
The Three Feathers must beat Hampshire at the Utilita Bowl to have any chance of retaining their Division One title after losing a dramatic potential decider against Nottinghamshire at The Oval last week.
A win for Notts against Warwickshire would secure a first championship since 2010 and end three years of Surrey dominance.
Chahar, 26, was registered to Surrey earlier this month but is yet to make an appearance for the club. He has taken 87 wickets in 24 first-class matches at an average of 26.12.
“I’m excited to join Surrey for this week’s match – I’m coming here to have an impact and help the team in their final match of the season,” he told the club’s website, external.
Chahar has played for Rajasthan since 2016 and has represented Rising Pune Supergiant, Mumbai Indians, Punjab Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League.
He has six T20 international caps and one ODI appearance for India.
