Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Lere Olayinka, has sharply criticised Interim Spokesperson of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Bolaji Abdullahi, accusing him and his allies of greed and selfishness that contributed to the misfortunes of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Olayinka dismissed Abdullahi’s recent claim that Wike was used to destroy the PDP, once hailed as one of Africa’s most powerful political parties. He challenged Abdullahi to acknowledge that his own political maneuvers and those of his “emergency political leader,” Atiku Abubakar, played significant roles in the party’s troubles. “Is it not on record that it was the political treachery of Atiku that frustrated the collective efforts of PDP members in Lagos State to win the State in 2003?” Olayinka asked.
He further questioned Abdullahi’s loyalty and political consistency, recalling Abdullahi’s departure from the PDP in 2014 after falling out with Senator Bukola Saraki, who had politically nurtured him. Olayinka noted Abdullahi’s switch to the APC during President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration and his subsequent return to the PDP, only to lose multiple elections, including the 2019 governorship nomination and the 2023 senatorial race in Kwara State. “If after serving as Special Assistant, Special Adviser, Commissioner, and Minister, the people of Kwara State still did not trust Abdullahi with the PDP governorship ticket or a senatorial mandate, it simply means he is a political liability,” Olayinka stated.
Wike’s aide also condemned Abdullahi’s so-called “coalition of confusion,” which Abdullahi claims is focused on saving Nigeria’s democracy. He described the coalition as a gathering of “frustrated politicians” seeking power for themselves rather than genuine democratic reform.
He singled out figures such as Atiku Abubakar, Nasir El-Rufai, Rotimi Amaechi, and Dino Melaye as examples of self-serving politicians in the coalition. “They selfishly want power for themselves and their cronies, but too bad, they won’t get it,” Olayinka asserted.
