The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested two suspected armed robbers and recovered a stolen vehicle in the early hours of Saturday.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command, SP Ramhan Nansel disclosed this in a Sunday statement.
The police spokesman said that at about 3:00 am, the Divisional Police Officer of ‘B’ Division, Lafia, received a distress call about an ongoing armed robbery at the residence of an unnamed resident located at Shinge by Railway Quarters in Lafia.
The suspects, operating as a gang, reportedly carted away a Toyota Corolla with registration number GRU 106 AE, along with a Jincheng motorcycle.
Nansel said, “In a swift and coordinated response, the DPO and his patrol team mobilised to the scene.
“Acting on intelligence, they intercepted and arrested two suspects—Basiru Lawal ‘M’ of Rogo LGA, Kano State, and Dahiru Mohammed ‘M’ of Shinge Quarters, Lafia—at Jibo Filling Station along Jos Road, Lafia, in possession of the stolen Toyota Corolla.”
He disclosed efforts are ongoing to track down the remaining fleeing gang member(s) and recover the stolen motorcycle.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed commended the swift response and professionalism of the officers involved and reiterated the command’s unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.
He urged members of the public to continue supporting the police by promptly reporting suspicious movements and activities in their neighbourhoods.
