Ranked UFC bantamweights will collide this summer in Abu Dhabi.
Former titleholder Petr Yan will return at UFC on ABC 9 on July 26 at Etihad Arena on Yas Island as he battles hungry up-and-comer Marcus McGhee in a three-round clash.
A person with knowledge of the matchup recently informed MMA Junkie of the booking but asked to remain anonymous as the promotion has yet to make an official announcement. Cageside Press first reported the news.
Yan (18-5 MMA, 10-4 UFC) aims to extend his winning streak to three. Following a three-fight skid during which he lost his bantamweight title, Yan bounced back with consecutive victories over Song Yadong and Deiveson Figueiredo.
McGhee (10-1 MMA, 4-0 UFC) enters the biggest fight of his life with the opportunity of inserting himself into title contention discussions with a win. Thus far in his UFC career, he’s finished Journey Newson, JP Buys, and Gaston Bolanos. He most recently competed in November when he defeated Jonathan Martinez.
With the addition, the UFC on ABC 9 lineup includes:
