The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has said the party was being strategically rebuilt as to bounce back to power in 2027.

South East zonal chairman of the party, Hon Chidiebere Goodluck Egwu made this known during the zonal meeting of the party held in Umuahia, Abia State.

Egwu revealed that the PDP in the South East is undergoing a deliberate and strategic rebuilding process. “We are bouncing back stronger. What we have faced are political storms, not a shipwreck. The light at the end of the tunnel is getting brighter.”

He paid glowing tribute to former Abia State Governor Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu and Senator Austin Akobundu for their efforts in advancing the course of the party in Abia.

Egwu lauded their enduring commitment to the PDP, acknowledging their roles in sustaining party unity during difficult political periods.

He extended appreciation to the PDP State Chairman, Abraham Amah, the State Working Committee, 17 Local Government Chairmen, and the 184 Ward Chairmen across Abia State, for strengthening the party at the grassroot level.

He announced plans to constitute committees to focus on electoral preparedness, reconciliation, media engagement, policy development, and grassroots mobilization.

Hon. Austin Nwachukwu, Imo State PDP Chairman and Chairman of PDP Chairmen in the South East, used the meeting to reaffirm Egwu’s position as the Zonal Vice Chairman, warning that any individual claiming the position illegally does so at his own risk.

He said with the Supreme Court’s ruling affirming Senator Samuel Anyanwu as the legitimate National Secretary of the party, that the leadership question has been resolved.

Abia PDP Chairman, Abraham Amah described his administration as one focused on bridge-building across party lines and regions.

He emphasized collaboration with party stakeholders across the South-South, South-West, and Northern regions.

Amah also cited a March 6 court ruling in Bende as a legal victory for the Abia PDP, indicating that the party is on a firm legal and structural footing moving forward.
