Ohio State Predicted to Lose Top 100 Recruit to Rising Big Ten Powerhouse originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Ohio State Buckeyes are looking to build off last year’s national championship win and are thus putting in a lot of effort in recruiting.
Ryan Day has landed 20 commits in the 2026 recruiting class, which ranks No. 3 in the Big Ten and No. 9 in the nation.
Furthermore, the Buckeyes have joined the Oregon Ducks, Ole Miss Rebels, LSU Tigers and Michigan Wolverines in the list of finalists for defensive lineman Deuce Geralds, who will be deciding on Aug. 2.
The Buckeyes have been active in Geralds’ recruiting process, bringing him in for five visits, the third most of any team, while also landing his final official visit on June 20.
Unfortunately for Ohio State, things are not trending in the right direction, as Rivals’ EJ Holland predicted on Thursday that Geralds will land with Oregon.
This would be a huge development for the Ducks, as Rivals ranks Geralds as a four-star recruit, No. 8 defensive lineman, the No. 10 player in Georgia and the No. 93 player in the nation.
Over the past three seasons, Geralds has been impressive for Collins Hill, accumulating 261 tackles, 77.5 tackles for loss, 37.5 sacks, 90 hurries, seven pass deflections and four forced fumbles.
The Ducks’ 2026 class has 15 commits and ranks No. 2 in the Big Ten and No. 7 in the nation.
