From Emmanuel Adeyemi, Lokoja
Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Obidient Movement in North Central Nigeria has started sensitising and mobilising youths, especially those without PVCs, to register in their various constituencies to rescue the country from further decay.
In a press statement signed by the North Central Spokesperson of the Obidient Movement, Mr Idakwo Emmanuel, and made available to newsmen in Lokoja, it calls on youths who have just attained 18, the voting age, and those without PVCs to register to deliver the country from “the hands of corrupt politicians and recycled leaders who do not mean well for the country.”
The statement reads in part:
“As the clock ticks steadily towards the 2027 general elections, the Obidient Movement in North Central Nigeria issues a clarion call to all Nigerians—especially first-time voters—to stand up, take responsibility, and take back their country from the grip of corrupt and recycled politicians.
“We are at a critical crossroads in the history of our dear nation. Nigeria is bleeding—our economy is battered, insecurity is widespread, our youth are leaving the country in droves, and the future seems uncertain. But amid the darkness, there is still one powerful tool in our hands that can restore hope and rebuild this nation: our Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs).
“Every vote counts. Every PVC matters. If your vote didn’t matter, corrupt politicians wouldn’t go to great lengths to buy it on election day. They know the power your vote holds, and that’s why they try to deceive you with crumbs while they enrich themselves with billions.
“We must no longer sit back while they weaponise poverty, exploit hunger, and insult our intelligence. The act of buying votes is not just a crime—it is a declaration of war against your future. And the only way to fight back is to be armed with your PVC and a conscience that cannot be bought.
“To the millions of young Nigerians turning 18 before 2027: this is your moment. You are not the leaders of tomorrow—you are the leaders of now. This is your opportunity to change the trajectory of Nigeria for the better. Do not waste it. Register. Mobilise. Vote.
“We urge you to see the power you carry. Let your generation be remembered as the one that refused to be silenced, that stood for truth, that voted for competence, integrity, and accountability.
“A new Nigeria is possible—but only if we show up. We must all work together to make election rigging difficult. A high voter turnout is the enemy of electoral fraud. When the people show up in overwhelming numbers, riggers lose sleep. They panic. They fail.
“That is why the Obidient Movement is not just a campaign—it is a citizens’ revolution of values. We are determined to fight for justice, equity, and the survival of our nation. But we cannot do it alone. We need you.
“What you must do now is to visit the nearest INEC office or registration centre and get your PVC and educate your family, friends, and neighbours about their power to vote.
“Join local grassroots movements pushing for voter education and accountability. Reject vote-buying and expose those who attempt to undermine our democracy.
“Let it be known across Nigeria and beyond: we will not allow this country to collapse. We are the change we have been waiting for, and 2027 is our chance to prove it. The time is now,” he added.
