    The UFC closed its August schedule with a return to China this past Saturday. UFC Fight Night 257 went down at Shanghai Indoor Stadium.

    An upset occurred in the main event when Johnny Walker (22-9 MMA, 8-6 UFC) showed he’s still got something in the tank against the dangerous Zhang Mingyang (19-7 MMA, 3-1 UFC) courtesy of a second-round TKO.

    Events stats

    The UFC Promotional Guidelines Compliance payout for the event totaled $161,500.

    Debuting fighters went 1-0 at the event.

    Walker, Charles Johnson, Kyle Daukaus and Uran Satybaldiev earned $50,000 UFC Fight Night 257 fight-night bonuses.

    UFC Fight Night 257 did not have an announced gate or attendance figure. The promotion did not make public the total number of tickets sold or the gate.

    Betting favorites went 8-3 on the card. One fight had even odds.

    Betting favorites fell to 18-11 in UFC headliners this year.

    Total fight time for the 12-bout card was 2:04:50.

    Johnny Walker def. Zhang Mingyang

    Walker has earned 20 of his 22 career victories by stoppage.

    Mingyang has suffered six of his seven career losses by stoppage.

    Aljamain Sterling def. Brian Ortega

    Aljamain Sterling (25-5 MMA, 17-5 UFC) has earned 10 of his 17 UFC victories by decision.

    Brian Ortega (16-5 MMA, 8-5 UFC) has suffered three of his five career losses by decision.

    Sergei Pavlovich def. Waldo Cortes-Acosta

    Waldo Cortes-Acosta (14-2 MMA, 7-2 UFC) has suffered both of his career losses by decision.

    Su Mudaerji def. Kevin Borjas

    Su Mudaerji (18-7 MMA, 5-4 UFC) improved to 4-2 since he dropped to the UFC flyweight division in November 2020.

    Mudaerji has earned four of his five UFC victories by decision.

    Kevin Borjas (10-4 MMA, 1-3 UFC) has suffered two of his four career losses by decision.

    Nueraji Taiyilake def. Kiefer Crosbie

    Nueraji Taiyilake (12-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC) has earned all 12 of his career victories by stoppage.

    Kiefer Crosbie (10-6 MMA, 0-3 UFC) has suffered all six of his career losses by stoppage.

    Gauge Young def. Hayisaer Maheshate

    Hayisaer Maheshate (8-5 MMA, 2-4 UFC) has suffered four of his five career losses by decision.

    Charles Johnson def. Lone’er Kavanagh

    Charles Johnson (18-7 MMA, 7-5 UFC) has earned all four of his UFC stoppage victories by knockout.

    Lone’er Kavanagh (9-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC) had his nine-fight winning streak snapped for the first defeat of his career.

    Rong Zhu def. Austin Hubbard

    Austin Hubbard (16-10 MMA, 4-8 UFC) has suffered seven of his 10 career losses by decision. That includes six of his eight UFC defeats.

    Kyle Daukaus def. Michel Pereira

    Kyle Daukaus (16-4 MMA, 3-4 UFC) was successful in his return to the UFC for a second stint.

    Michel Pereira’s (30-14 MMA, 9-5 UFC) three-fight losing skid is the longest of his career. He hasn’t earned a victory since May 2024.

    Pereira fell to 3-3 since he moved up to the middleweight division in October 2023.

    Yi Zha def. Westin Wilson

    Westin Wilson (17-10 MMA, 1-3 UFC) has suffered eight of his 10 career losses by stoppage.

    SuYoung You def. Xiao Long

    SuYoung You (16-3 MMA, 3-0 UFC) has earned all three of his UFC victories by decision.

    Uran Satybaldiev def. Diyar Nurgozhay

    Uran Satybaldiev (10-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) has earned eight of his 10 career victories by stoppage.

    Satybaldiev earned the fifth Ezekiel choke submission in UFC history. Remco Pardoel, Alexander Volkov and Aleksei Oleinik (twice) also accomplished the feat.

    Diyar Nurgozhay (10-2 MMA, 0-2 UFC) has suffered consecutive losses after starting his career 10-0.

    Nurgozhay has suffered both of his career losses by submission.
