The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) on Monday sealed off Dimple Berry, a lounge located in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos, over persistent noise pollution.
In a statement, LASEPA said the enforcement action is part of the agency’s ongoing efforts to ensure compliance with the state’s environmental laws, particularly as it relates to noise pollution in residential and mixed-use areas.
General Manager of LASEPA, Dr. Babatunde Ajayi said the agency had previously served notices and issued directives to the operators of the lounge after several unresolved complaints.
However, he said, the establishment failed to take adequate corrective measures, leading to Monday’s closure.
Ajayi reaffirmed LASEPA’s commitment to safeguarding the health and well-being of Lagosians by enforcing environmental standards and regulations.
He further urged entertainment and hospitality operators across the state to adopt soundproofing technologies and comply fully with environmental guidelines to avoid sanctions.
“LASEPA remains dedicated to fostering a serene and healthy environment for all residents of Lagos State,” Ajayi stated
