The member representing Abak, Etim Ekpo, Ika Federal Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives, Hon Clement Jimbo, has advised PDP defectors not to be overambitious by fighting for positions instead of showing humility and working for the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking in Abak Urban Ward 1, Abak Local Government Area of the state, while receiving PDP defectors to APC last weekend, Jimbo reminded them that APC has structures across the state, adding that the defectors should not engage in fighting for positions.
“The instruction was for you to go to your ward and defect, and you have done it today.
“There are rules and regulations of the APC as provided in the constitution of the party. There are rules and guidelines that direct the operations of APC both in Akwa Ibom and Nigeria.
“As you return, don’t destroy the party with your ambitions. The problem will be when you leave your lane to drive in another person’s own; there will be an accident,” Jimbo said.
Jimbo explained that APC never threatened anybody to join the party and warned the defectors to humble themselves, work for the party, and sustain the peace they have come to see.
“We have not threatened anybody to come to APC, but since you have come on your own, abide by our instructions and the constitution of our party.
“Don’t seek positions because everywhere is occupied, but work for the party.
“We would support President Ahmed Bola Tinubu for a second term, Senate President Godswill Akpabio to return to the Senate, and Pastor Umo Eno for governor in 2027. This is the task before the party,” Jimbo said.
The Akwa Ibom State Publicity Secretary of APC, Barr OtoAbasi Udoh, advised the defectors not to try to overthrow those who were already occupying positions in the party.
Udoh, who represented the state chairman of APC, Hon Stephen Ntokekpo, appealed to the PDP defectors to humble themselves before the party.
“Don’t use your skyscrapers to destroy our bungalows. Humble yourselves and don’t bring conflict and disagreement here,” Udoh said.
The ward chairman of APC in Abak Urban Ward 1, Hon Utip Friday Jeremiah, while welcoming the defectors, said there are many places for them to occupy.
“On behalf of ward leaders, I welcome you into the APC family. Please learn the ground rules and abide accordingly,” Jeremiah said.
