    KEY HIGHLIGHTS

    • Suryakumar Yadav made a heartwarming gesture
    • Suryakumar pledged to help the Indian Armed Forces
    • Suryakumar will help the victims of the Pahalgam Terrorist attacks

Suryakumar Yadav won the hearts of cricket fans and earned praises from all corners after leading India to the 2025 Asia Cup trophy after beating arch-rivals Pakistan in the 2025 Asia Cup, as he made an incredible gesture towards the Indian Armed Forces (IAF) and the victims of the Pahalgam Terrorist attacks.

The Indian captain revealed that he will donate his match fees from the tournament to help the IAF and victims of the barbaric attacks, which killed 26 people in the Indian town earlier this year in April. Suryakumar made the announcement in the press conference and later posted it on social media.

“I have decided to donate my match fees from this tournament to support our Armed Forces and the families of the victims who suffered from the Pahalgam terror attack. You always remain in my thoughts,” wrote Suryakumar Yadav on X.

    India Win Asia Cup 2025

The Suryakumar Yadav-led team won the continental showpiece tournament for the ninth time in history. The Men in Blue have also become the first team to clinch the tournament in the T20 format twice, having also won the inaugural edition in 2016. The Men in Blue won the tournament unbeaten with seven wins in as many games, including one in the super over. India played Pakistan thrice and beat them on all three occasions.

This was the first multi-national tournament that Suryakumar led India after replacing Rohit Sharma as the captain of the T20I team post the 2024 T20 World Cup victory.

However, the 35-year-old had a poor run with the bat, with just 72 runs in six innings at an average of 18, with a highest score of 47.

Talking about the match, India won by five wickets in a last-over thriller with Tilak Varma being the star of the show with 69 runs in 53 balls. Earlier, Kuldeep Yadav took a four-wicket haul.
