The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Kano Sector Command has averted a potential petrol-loaded tanker explosion in the state following their timely intervention.
Daily Sun gathered that a fully loaded petrol tanker with registration number DBT 693 XA had one of its rear tyres fall into the roadside drainage as it attempted to enter an AA Rano Filling Station along BUK-Gwarzo Road to offload its contents.
According to a statement issued by CRC Abdullahi Labaran for the FRSC, the tanker lost its balance following the slip and posed an imminent threat of explosion and fire outbreak in the densely populated area.
“Upon receiving the distress call, operatives of the FRSC promptly arrived at the scene and were immediately joined by personnel from the Federal Fire Service, Nigerian Red Cross Society, and the Kano Road Traffic Agency (KAROTA).”
“The rescue team swiftly swung into action by cordoning off the area, initiating diversion of traffic to avert further risks, and ensuring the safety of lives and properties in the vicinity.”
“Meanwhile, firefighters from the Federal Fire Service professionally took all necessary precautions to prevent any fire outbreak while the delicate process of offloading the PMS from the unstable truck was carried out successfully.”
“Thanks to the combined and well-coordinated efforts of all the emergency response agencies, the potential disaster was averted, the obstruction was cleared, and normal traffic flow was restored on the affected route.”
