A man holding on to his 21-year-old son’s grave, crying inconsolably and repeating those taking him away to let him stay is one of the painful memories that 11 families in Bengaluru are tied to now. The IPL 2025 victory of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) was being celebrated inside the Chinnaswamy stadium on June 4 when an unprecedented crowd gathered outside, a stampede occurred, and 11 people lost their lives.
One of the deceased is Bhoomik Lakshman. His father, BT Lakshman, is seen crying and refusing to leave his son’s grave in Karnataka’s Hassan.

“I don’t want to go anywhere now. I want to stay here too,” the weeping father says as he lies flat on the ground.

The heartbreaking video has been shared on the official X handle of Karnataka BJP with the caption, “Murderous CM @siddaramaiah, murderous DCM @DKShivakumar. If you had made up your mind, you could have taken a photo with your children and grandchildren in a luxurious hotel with a cup. But your insistence on taking a photo on the steps of the Vidhana Soudha has made 11 families wash their hands in tears every day.”

“Can you give this father his son back, sitting in front of his son’s grave and crying?!” the party added.

On Saturday, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah increased the compensation amount announced for the kin of the deceased in the stadium stampede from Rs 10 to Rs 25 lakh per family.

The police have arrested two RCB members for the mismanagement and distorted planning of the event. Meanwhile, the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) President Raghu Ram Bhat and several other office bearers approached the Karnataka High Court on Friday, seeking to quash the FIR filed against them in connection with the deadly stampede.

Times Now has accessed the petition in which the KSCA has slammed the politicians, claiming that the accident was an “unforeseen act” and that celebrating the win of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) was a decision of the state government. The KSCA has also mentioned that it is only responsible for “handling venue rentals” and that it “doesn’t deal with the audience.”

The police had registered an FIR on Thursday against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, event management firm DNA Entertainment Networks Pvt. Ltd., and KSCA, following the tragic incident that claimed 11 lives and left 56 others injured during RCB’s IPL victory celebrations.
