Cross River State Governor Bassey Otu has announced that his administration has dismantled 16 camps used by miscreants in the state.

The governor made this known at the UJ Esuene Stadium during an endorsement rally organised by the Cross River South Consultative Forum for President Bola Tinubu and himself ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Governor Otu stated that only one camp remains, and its deadline for surrender expired on June 30, 2025. He assured that by the end of July, no such camps will exist in the state.

“We have taken up the challenge of insecurity, and we can sleep with both eyes closed.

“When we came into office, we had over 16 camps. Today, we have wiped them out, and only one is left, and their deadline has passed as of 30th June 2025.

“As we move into this month, there will be no camp again for miscreants in Cross River State; we will crush it.

“All those who are remaining have come out for amnesty, and we are making sure they are properly integrated into society and will live a normal life like others,” Gov Otu said.

The governor highlighted that his administration has made significant strides in various sectors, asserting that the government’s commitment to delivering on its promises is unquestionable.

He also disclosed that Cross River State is solidly behind President Tinubu ahead of the next general elections, pledging 96% of the state’s votes for the president.

Alphonsus Eba, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River, defended the party’s support for President Tinubu and Governor Otu, stating that the party has passed a vote of confidence in them.

He warned that any party member who opposes this decision will face sanctions.

Similarly, Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong, representing the Southern Senatorial District of the state, commended President Tinubu for ending the fuel subsidy and exchange rate fraud, among other notable policies.

Senator Ekpenyong also praised Governor Otu for his infrastructural developments and unparalleled efforts in enhancing security in the state.
