Even Brad Pitt isn’t immune to a bit of nostalgia. After all, that’s what’s making the entertainment world spin at the moment: reboots, relaunches, remakes, frame-for-frame live action recreations of animated classics.
That energy was all over Pitt’s wardrobe this weekend. In New York ahead of tonight’s F1 premiere, the 61-year-old actor was spotted walking in and out of nice hotels with his partner Ines de Ramon and filming bits with Jimmy Fallon for The Tonight Show. Throughout it all, Pitt sported a handful of fits with a distinctive Fight Club-ian flavor to them.
A cobalt blue velvet blazer here, a lilac silk shirt there, some tie-dye, a pair of tangerine cargo pants worn with a suede Gucci duffle. It’s all very Tyler Durden. Eccentric, eclectic, retro, a touch random. Sure, it’s maybe not an exact revival—no red leather jackets in sight—but it gave us perhaps a peek into Durden’s wardrobe had he been a figment of someone’s imagination in 2025.
First, when checking into his hotel, Pitt wore a sheer burgundy polo, the neck worn open and loose, and a pair of bright orange trousers. He accessorized with a suede Gucci duffle and oversized tinted specs. Then, Pitt and de Ramon went out on a double date with Bradley Cooper and Gigi Hadid, wearing the aforementioned lilac silk shirt tucked into velvet-sheen gray trousers. (After returning from dinner, the trousers then had a sizable rip in the knee.)

Next came Durden’s soap-factory look. Sorry, we mean, his Saturday morning fit. Pitt wore a pair of baggy nylon cargo pants, one leg of which was actually repurposed from an Aston Martin F1 racing suit. On top, a paint splattered green tee worn over a white long-sleeve and aviator shades.

Later that day came the tie-dye. And considering it was for a skit on The Tonight Show, Fallon giggling beside him, we’re happy to file it under ‘costuming,’ but still, the vibe stands.

That night, Pitt and de Ramon headed out to dinner again. This time in a white striped button-up shirt, wide-leg jeans and an extremely luminous blue velvet blazer. And, again, the aviators. If we were still making comparisons—and we are!—we’d say this is the red leather jacket and Hawaiian shirt combo, updated 25 years later. Still a little quirky, a little oddball, but with the same cool factor.
Look, the homages probably aren’t as intentional as we think—“You’re not your fucking khakis,” as someone once said—but Pitt would never admit it if it were anyway. After all, the first rule of Fight Club is…
