10 others injured, police confirm

Four people have been killed as a result of the detonation of an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) under a pickup truck conveying passengers to Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State.
According to a preliminary report from the Borno State Police Command, the incident occurred around 12:30 pm on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at Komala Village in Konduga Local Government Area. The vehicle, travelling from Damboa in southern Borno, struck an IED suspected to have been planted by Boko Haram or Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists.
Police spokesperson, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Nahum Daso, stated: “As a result of the explosion, four (4) persons lost their lives, while ten (10) others sustained various degrees of injuries.”
The deceased and injured were evacuated to the State Specialist Hospital in Maiduguri, approximately 50 kilometres from the blast site. A joint security team has been deployed to the area to prevent further attacks, and normalcy has been restored, according to the police.
This marks the second terrorist bomb attack in Borno within a week, following a suicide bombing on Friday, June 20, 2025, in Konduga town that killed 12 local traders at a fish market.
