The Deputy Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Chief Mrs Lami Danladi-Ogenyi, has stated that the 10th Assembly will thrive under the leadership of the new Speaker, Hon. Alfred Emberga.
The Deputy Speaker, and member representing Ado State Constituency, made this declaration while speaking to newsmen in her office in Makurdi.
Ogenyi, who was addressing the recent change of leadership in the House, described the new Speaker, Alfred Emberga, as a transparent and principled leader who is also gender-friendly.
She said she has so far enjoyed a cordial working relationship with the new Speaker as he has been carrying lawmakers along in decision-making on all Assembly matters.
“I’m enjoying his leadership; he has started well. He is gender-friendly, and so far, since he assumed office as the Speaker of the 10th Assembly, we have a cordial working relationship, and he has been consulting me in carrying out decisions in the Assembly, and all the members are also happy because he is transparent.
“So, I expect all members to give the Speaker, Hon. Alfred Emberga, support and cooperation. I also pray for unity among members. Already, he is doing well, but the more we support him, the more he will do better. So, I urge all members to give him maximum support so he can lead us to greater heights, beyond our expectations.
“The new Speaker is a sincere and principled man. I want to assure the Benue people that under his leadership, we are going to make laws that will benefit all groups, all communities, and the entire Benue State at large,” she said.
She also stated that she has ensured the mobilisation of her constituents to take part in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR).
According to her, she set up committees across the 10 council wards in her Ado Local Government Area to ensure the exercise was seamless.
Ogenyi said, “I’m a mobiliser, and I’m gathering my people already. What I did was constitute committees across the 10 council wards of Ado LGA, and I asked them to mobilise all our people to go to the INEC office to register so that they can have their PVCs.
“The PVC is their weapon. That is what they will use to vote for President Bola Tinubu and our Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, for a second tenure come 2027.”
