    From Sola Ojo, Abuja

Armed bandits terrorising parts of Kaduna State have launched a deadly attack, killing six residents, injuring one, and went away with several others in farming communities of Maro Ward in Kajuru Local Government Area of the State.

A credible source in the area hinted that the attackers invaded the community in the early hours of Friday, July 11, 2025.

The attack affected several communities in the area, including Angwan Galadima, Angwan Bakira, Angwan Chiyawa, and Inuwar Maiturare.

The invaders, reportedly heavily armed and large in number, stormed the villages under the cover of darkness, shooting sporadically and causing panic and chaos among defenceless residents.

Among those killed were the elderly and middle-aged, many of whom had no chance to flee or defend themselves.

The victims have been identified as Luka Maiturari, 75, Bauwa Surutu, 30, Dogara Ega, 89, Victor Ega, 76, Josea Bakira, 39, and Bulus James Ega (female), 58.

A woman identified as Louis Ayawa, who sustained gunshot injuries during the invasion, is currently receiving treatment at a medical facility outside her community.

Though the exact number of those abducted remains unclear as of press time, local sources confirm that several individuals may have been taken during the raid.

Although the activities of these criminal elements have drastically reduced in the State since the coming of Uba Sani as the State Governor in 2023, calls are mounting once again for stronger government intervention and improved security presence in the area.

As of the time of this report, both the Kaduna State Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs and Kaduna State Police Command have yet to issue an official statement, but local leaders are urging swift action to prevent further bloodshed and restore peace to the once again troubled Maro.
