The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has dismissed as “wishful thinking” the claim by the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, that he will mobilise two million votes for Labour Party’s gubernatorial candidate, Chief George Moghalu, in the November 8, 2025, Anambra State governorship election.
National Coordinator of the APGA Media Warriors Forum, Chinedu Obigwe, described Obi’s remarks as “empty propaganda from a headless mob of Obidients,” stating that they are incapable of mounting any significant electoral challenge in Anambra.
“As far as the November 8 governorship election is concerned, Peter Obi and his so-called headless Obidient mob cannot achieve more than a dead rat,” Obigwe said. “Anambra people are wiser now and will not be misled into making a regrettable mistake at the polls.”
Citing political history, Obigwe recalled that in 2017, Obi backed Oseloka Obaze against then-Governor Willie Obiano and suffered an embarrassing defeat, even losing in his own Anaocha Local Government Area. He emphasised that APGA won all 21 local government areas in that election, underscoring the party’s dominance.
“Fast forward to 2021, when Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo ran for governor, Peter Obi again threw his weight behind Valentine Ozigbo and campaigned vigorously across the state. Yet, he lost once more. Soludo won 19 out of 21 local government areas, including Anaocha, Obi’s home base,” he stated.
Obigwe argued that Obi’s political influence in Anambra has proven ineffective and cannot alter the outcome of the 2025 governorship election in favour of what he called the “visionless” George Moghalu.
“Peter Obi cannot perform any miracle to make George Moghalu governor. Soludo’s strength lies in his visible performance and solid pedigree. He has justified the confidence Anambra voters placed in him in 2021, and they are prepared to renew that mandate,” he added.
The APGA spokesperson dismissed Moghalu’s coalition with political figures such as Senator Victor Umeh and Senator Tony Nwoye, describing them as “political scammers” who have no credibility with Anambra voters.
“Victor Umeh and Tony Nwoye, who have promised George Moghalu heaven and earth, are deceiving him. Anambra people know better and will not take these two seriously,” he said.
Obigwe boldly declared that what awaits Governor Soludo in November is a “326 over 326 wards victory,” referring to an anticipated clean sweep of all electoral wards in the state.
“It’s a done deal. Anambra people are satisfied with Governor Soludo’s performance. Come November 8, 2025, Peter Obi and his headless Obidients will be treated to another round of political humiliation—just like in 2017 and 2021,” he added.
