The National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Sly Ezeokenwa, has dispelled what he call a baseless misinformation and allegations against his party by the All Progressives Congress (APC) Anambra State chapter over the outcome of the just concluded legislative bye-elections in the state.
Speaking to the media in Abuja on Wednesday, Ezeokenwa fumed that despite the infamous role the APC governorship candidate, Nicholas Ukachukwu, played in attempting to subvert the will of the people during the election, has volunteered himself as the Chief purveyor of falsehood all in the bid to discredit the excellent work of INEC Officials and security agencies in ensuring the credibility of the by-election
He said: “This press conference has been necessitated due to the persistent falsehoods, deliberate misinformation and baseless allegations being circulated in the media by the supporters and cronies of the APC Senatorial candidate for the recently conducted Anambra South Senatorial Bye Election, Mr Azuka Okwuosa.”
“This of course includes Ukachukwu, the APC governorship candidate for the November 8, 2025 Anambra Gubernatorial election, who despite the infamous role he played in attempting to subvert the will of the people at the said election as well as several electoral infractions he committed, has volunteered himself as the Chief purveyor of falsehood all in the bid to discredit the excellent work of INEC Officials and security agencies in ensuring the credibility of the said by-election.
“Ordinarily, our great party, the APGA could have easily dismissed these spurious claims and focus on its people oriented governance in the state; however we have elected to respond to these baseless allegations and blatant falsehood nay misrepresentation in a bid to set the records straight for the sake of historical accuracy and clarity.
“We want to provide a factual counter-narrative and ensure that the truth is documented for posterity. As you are all aware, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) conducted the 2025 by-elections and/or re-run. In what has been adjourned as a watershed in the quest for a transparent and credible elections in our nation’s history as aptly captured by both local and international observers.
“The successful conduct of the said by-elections has yet again marked INEC as an important pillar of our democracy and further demonstrated the institution’s commitment to upholding democratic principles and the will of the Nigerian people.
“The election showed a significant milestone in INEC’s journey towards entrenching true democratic change in our nation and their resolve to ensure that the voices of Nigerians are heard through credible elections.
“APGA wishes to express its profound appreciation to INEC under its current leadership and staff for their dedication and efforts in conducting the recent by-elections. We reaffirm our commitment to working with INEC and collaborating with relevant stakeholders who share our vision for a more progressive Nigeria as well as advancing the welfare of all the masses and a country where every citizen’s voice is heard and valued,” he said.
