Junior expects experience to give him edge over Cauley

Antonio Carlos Junior speaks to MMA Junkie and other media ahead of his fight with Sullivan Cauley at Thursday’s 2025 PFL World Tournament 10.

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – Antonio Carlos Junior has almost three times the amount of professional fights as Sullivan Cauley.

Carlos Junior (18-6) takes on Cauley (8-1) in the light heavyweight tournament finals Thursday, which co-headlines 2025 PFL World Tournament 10 from Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.

Carlos Junior, a former “Ultimate Fighter” Brazil winner and UFC alum, won the 2021 PFL light heavyweight tournament, and sees his experience playing a major factor in the fight.

“I think it makes a big difference in this fight,” Carlos Junior told MMA Junkie and other reporters of Rosta at a pre-fight news conference Tuesday. “He doesn’t have a lot of fights. I passed through a lot of things in MMA, in this sport, and in the fights. Some things you just learn by experience. I had a lot of mistakes in my career, and I just learned doing those mistakes or doing the right things with the experience that I have. So, I think it’s going to be a good point for me.”

A jiu-jitsu blackbelt with 12 of his 18 professional wins coming by submission, Carlos Junior doubts Cauley will want to spend too much time on the floor with him.

“I think he’s pretty well-rounded guy,” Carlos Junior said of Cauley. “He’s a pretty good wrestler, good boxing, he can throw some kicks too. I think he’s going to try and mix it up, but definitely he’s going to try and stay more on top and throw some boxing. He did a lot of this in his past fights. He can try and take me down, try and control a bit, but he doesn’t want to be a long time on the ground with me.”
