Alexander Hernandez met the media Saturday after his win over Diego Ferreira at UFC Fight Night 259.

Hernandez (18-8 MMA, 10-7 UFC) blasted Ferreira (19-7 MMA, 10-7 UFC) with a vicious TKO in the second round of their main card lightweight fight at Frost bank Center in San Antonio, Texas.

It was the second straight knockout win for Hernandez, who just a month ago ended his fight against Chase Hooper in the same way – a big right hand, followed by heavy ground-and-pound. It was his fourth straight win overall after a rough 1-4 patch over a couple-year stretch.

Hernandez said fighting in front of his home city fans in San Antonio as part of the promotion’s annual Noche UFC tribute to Mexican Heritage Month was a big boost. And getting the opportunity to do it just a few weeks after his UFC 319 win over Hooper.

“It’s been a long month,” Hernandez told UFC.com after the fight. “Stepping up after Chicago, my nervous system hasn’t had a lot of time to cool off. So I’m going to take a solid sabbatical after this and just chill for a little bit. It feels a little surreal right now, but it’s cool. Catching back-to-back knockouts, my right hand’s doing its goddamn job, so I’m happy with it.”

Hernandez, who will turn 33 in October, said on the heels of his 1-4 run, which included a weight miss in a loss to Damon Jackson in April 2024, he made a concerted effort to plot out what he needed to do to get back on track.

After decisions over Austin Hubbard and Kurt Holobaugh, he’s had the finishes of Hooper and Ferreira. At 3-0 in 2025, and 4-0 in less than a year’s time, he thinks he’s made the right strides.

“I feel the momentum. It’s cliche, but it manifests itself in something,” Hernandez said. “I planned this last run out last year, and it’s kind of coming together. Just f*cking go for it. Just go for it. That’s what we’re doing. It’s paying out.”

Check out Hernandez’s post-fight interview in the video below.
