Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has approved the relaxation of the curfew imposed on the three warring communities of Ifon, Ilobu, and Erin-Osun.
A statement by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, on Saturday, said the relaxation was based on positive security reports from the security chiefs in the state on the security situation in the affected communities.
He said the curfew, which will still be in force until total peace is attained, has been relaxed to run from 12 midnight to 4:00 am the following day, effective from Saturday, 19th July, 2025.
According to the statement, with the new directive by the governor, the hitherto imposed 9 pm to 6 am curfew already in place has been accordingly relaxed.
Governor Adeleke appreciated the Olufon, Olobu, Elerin, and other stakeholders in the three communities for their cooperation in bringing lasting peace to the three communities.
He urged all stakeholders to sustain peace and warned that the government will not hesitate to deal with anyone caught causing trouble in the area.
“Following the return of peace in the warring communities of Ifon-Ilobu-Erin Osun, it gladdens my heart, as the Chief Security Officer of Osun State, to direct that the hitherto 9 pm-6 am curfew will now be between 12 midnight to 4 am of the following day, with effect from today, Saturday, 19th July, 2025.
“Let me seize this opportunity to appreciate the Olufon, Olobu, Elerin, and other stakeholders for their efforts in bringing lasting peace to the three communities. I urge that you should please keep it up.
“Finally, I am using this medium to urge the 100-man Boundaries Resolution Committee for Ifon/Ilobu/Erin to expedite action on the boundaries resolution among the three communities,” Adeleke said.
