Police in Addison, Illinois, are responding to an incident on the 200 block of La Porte Drive following reports of a shooting on Thursday afternoon.

In a post on X, the Addison Police Department confirmed that officers were “on the scene” and urged residents to avoid the area.

Unconfirmed reports, based on local scanner audio, suggested that an officer may have been fired upon from one of the residences on La Porte Drive and injured. However, police have not confirmed whether shots were fired.

In a later update, the department said the response remained active and that a shelter-in-place order had been issued for the entire city.

Addison Trail High School, located near La Porte Drive, was placed on a secure lockdown as a precaution. Police said students had been moved to a “safe house.”

Authorities have not provided further details about the nature of the incident or any potential suspects.
