Aamir Khan talks about Tamil version of Sitaare Zameen Par

In an interaction with Gallata Plus, Bollywood actor Aamir Khan talked about working with director RS Prasanna on Sitaare Zameen Par after he lost motivation and hopes when his last release Laal Singh Chaddha did not do well at the box office. The actor explained, “Prasanna is a very good director. The film has been made is because of him. Because there was a time, after Laal Singh Chaddha, I did not work. I was emotionally very disturbed and I was very depressed. I remember telling Prasanna that I think you all should proceed without me. He was obviously sad, but he was also very understanding of what I was going through.”

He further continued saying, “I was happy to produce the film and we could get some other actor. We actually made two projects of the same film, one was a Tamil version and one was a Hindi version. So we had a Tamil actor and a Hindi actor. Everything was sorted.”

The actor explained that he asked the director to sit with him for a week to finalise a part of the script which he though would do once everything was sorted. Khan said, “So I sat on the one week and on the first day itself, within an hour or two, a thought came to my mind, ‘ Aamir why are you not doing the film,’ so without letting them know, for the seven days I worked for the film. Everyday I used to feel like, ‘wow what a script.’ ‘why am I not doing the film.'”

Aamir Khan finally said, “Finally on the seventh day, I said Prasanna, Divya, I have a confession to make. I want you to know that I really love the script and I have been tempted once more to want to act in it. The moment I finished saying this, Prasanna said, ‘sir, on the first day, within first two hours, I told Divya that sir is doing the film'”

“I want to tell you is that Prasanna, from the first time he met me till finally the film is now ready, he never gave up!”
