Mohammed Usman won’t be competing this weekend.
Usman (11-4 MMA, 4-2 UFC), brother of former welterweight champion Kamaru, has been ruled out of his heavyweight clash against Valter Walker (14-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC) at Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 261, which takes place at Farmasi Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The news was confirmed by MMA Junkie on Thursday following a report by Laerte Viana.
It’s unknown if Walker will stay on the card and get a replacement opponent, or if the bout with Usman will be rescheduled for a later date.
Usman was looking to build off a decision win over Hamdy Abdelwahab this past June. Prior to the win, Usman had suffered back-to-back decision losses, which were the first two defeats of his UFC career.
On the other hand, Walker was looking to have a homecoming moment, fighting in his home country of Brazil. Walker is currently on a three-fight wining streak, with all victories coming by heel hook submission.
