A massive night of fights is set for T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday. UFC 320 touches down in Sin City with a pair of title fights atop the marquee. In the main event, Alex Pereira looks to reclaim the light heavyweight title he dropped in March when he takes on Magomed Ankalaev. Plus, bantamweight champion Merab Dvalishvili looks to continue his incredible run through the division when he takes on top challenger Cory Sandhagen.
Pereira became a key player for the UFC through activity, defending his title four times in 13 months. A string of vicious knockouts made him a fan-favorite, but Ankalaev nullified that threat at UFC 313. Ankalaev, widely believed to be the better wrestler, outstruck Pereira in a largely forgettable fight. Pereira tries to redeem his surprisingly tepid last showing, while Ankalaev tries to cement himself as unequivocally the better man.
Dvalishvili, meanwhile, has one of the most impressive resumes in the history of the 135-pound division. He has beaten every top fighter put in front of him. After dropping the first two fights of his UFC career in 2017 and 2018, Dvalishvili has taken down 13 straight opponents, including Sean O’Malley (twice), Umar Nurmagomedov, Henry Cejudo, Petr Yan and Jose Aldo. He gets a tough opponent in Sandhagen, who finally gets his shot at gold after falling short in title eliminators four times in recent years.
Plus, fireworks are expected when a pair of light heavyweights meet in a featured bout on the main card. Jiri Prochazka and Khalil Rountree Jr., two of the sport’s most exciting fighters, are set to throw down with tons of implications. The winner could position himself for another title shot after both came up short against Pereira. The undercard also sees the return of featherweight veteran Josh Emmett as he welcomes Youssef Zalal in a key crossroads battle. Zalal brings a seven-fight win streak and impressive showings in his first four UFC bouts. Three of those ended in submissions. Emmett is one of the toughest outs in the sport and should provide a true test for the native of Morocco.
