Rishab Shetty’s Kantara Chapter 1 has high stakes after the humongous success of the 2022 Kannada mythological thriller. Set for Dussehra 2025 release, the countdown for the multilingual fable film has begun. The makers opened the advance booking window for the audience. As per the early data, Kantara Chapter 1 shows promising pre-sales.

According to Sacnilk’s early estimates on the first day of advance booking, Kantara Chapter 1 has sold 47,210 tickets across languages till 11 AM on Saturday. With blocked seats, the film has minted Rs 4.11 crore.

According to the official synopsis, “Rishab Shetty transforms into a fierce Naga Sadhu, a warrior-mystic destined to become the bridge between mortals and the divine. Ancient rituals, supernatural forces, and tribal struggles collide in a cinematic spectacle like no other — this isn’t just a prequel, it’s the origin of a myth.”

The film is set in the Kadamba period in Karnataka. According to CBFC certification details reported by Bollywood Hungama, the makers have been instructed to remove an obscene hand gesture around the 45-minute mark. Additionally, a ticker was inserted during sequences showing drug use at 52 and 53 minutes, reading: “Consumption and trafficking of Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances is Prohibited in Law and Punishable with Rigorous Imprisonment and Fine.”

Directed and written by Rishab, Kantara Chapter 1 releases on October 2 in Kannada, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, Tamil, Bengali, and English. The film also stars Gulshan Devaiah, Rukmini Vasant, Jayaram, PD Satish Chandra, and Prakash Thuminad, among others. Kantara Chapter 1‘s pre-release event in Hyderabad is scheduled for September 28.
