Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan recently opened up about his near-death experience during the terrifying robbery attack at his Bandra West home earlier this year. The actor, who was stabbed by an intruder in the early hours of January 16 while wife Kareena Kapoor and family members were asleep, described the incident as “miraculous” for the way he escaped with his life. Saif also revealed how his youngest son, Jeh, had a moving response after the attack.

In an interview with Esquire, Saif reflected on the shocking night that changed his perspective. “There’s this crazy sense of how lucky one is because (the knife attack) was damn close. And to walk away relatively unscathed is nothing short of miraculous,” he said.

He recalled lying on the floor of Jeh’s bedroom with stab wounds before being rushed to the hospital. In that moment, he remembers thinking about the life he has lived. “It could have been the adrenaline but I remember thinking life has been colourful and I’ve been privileged to be in many places… not just in terms of money – so many people have much more money – but when I think of that rarefied atmosphere of Winchester, of all my travels with loved ones, the wine, my wife, my children…”

Jeh’s praise for super dad Saif

Khan also reflected on the circumstances of the attack, reasoning that the intruder might have entered their home by mistake. “My analysis is that the intruder was there by mistake, that he didn’t know it was Saif and Kareena’s home,” he explained, adding that this perspective has helped restore a sense of normalcy.

The most emotional moment, however, came after his recovery. Saif revealed that after the incident, his son Jeh told him he’s the bravest man he knows.

As a father of three sons, Saif was asked what qualities he wishes them to embody. “Calmness, patience, discipline, balance,” he listed. “To stay calm when things are flying around, to stay loving when times are difficult, it’s not easy. You have to work quite hard for everything to be in its right place.”

The January 16 stabbing incident shocked fans across the country. Saif had to be operated on, but the actor has recovered and has resumed work now.
