An earthquake of magnitude 6.2 on the Richter scale struck 12 kilometers south of Mene Grande, Venezuela. The tremor occurred at 22.21 UTC, and local authorities are assessing the situation.
The depth was 35km and was reported by European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC).
The National Tsunami Warning Center (NTWC) has issued a statement, confirming that no tsunami threat exists for the US East Coast, Gulf Coast, or Canadian Atlantic Provinces.
Residents are advised to stay alert for possible aftershocks and follow safety instructions from local authorities.
