India’s premium pace bowler Jasprit Bumrah has informed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) that he is ready for selection for the two-Test series against the West Indies at home next month, according to a report from the Indian Express. India’s team for the Test series, which starts in Ahmedabad on October 2, will be revealed by the senior selection committee on September 24.
Bumrah played three Test matches in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy while on tour in England, which helped him manage his workload. After more than a year, he made his T20I comeback for the 2025 T20 Asia Cup.
The star pacer was recently rested for the match against Oman in the group stage. However, assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate stated during the pre-game news conference on September 23 that he is unlikely to be rested for any of the tournament’s remaining games.
“It is unlikely that Bumrah will be rested. He is set to play the West Indies Tests. We’ve got important matches coming up, and it’s good for him to keep playing and get more match time,” Ten Doeschate told the reporters.
Rishabh Pant, India’s standout batter and wicketkeeper, has been ruled out of the series because he has not yet fully recovered from a fracture to his right foot that occurred during the series’ fourth Test match against England. While Dhruv Jurel is most likely to take his place in the starting lineup, Narayan Jagadeesan is expected to stay in the squad as a backup wicketkeeper.
For his fitness test, veteran spin-bowling all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has arrived at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. Since the Test series against England, he has not participated in any games.
