Ronda Rousey says she has found passion for MMA again and appears to be training with more than a casual degree of intensity.
The original UFC women’s bantamweight champion and UFC Hall of Famer Rousey (12-2 MMA, 6-2 UFC) has not fought MMA since a 48-second knockout loss to Amanda Nunes at UFC 207 in December 2016. Her post-fighting life has included a stint with WWE, having two children, writing books and more.
Now 38, and with her 39th birthday on Feb. 1, Rousey is in the gym, seemingly with a mind toward evolution to her skill set (via Instagram):
From 8 weeks after having a baby and 8 years of stepping away from MMA to 8 months postpartum and finding my love for it again. The first clip is my first session working with @aj_mma I was super self conscious, embarrassed of how much I regressed, and honestly trying my very best not to pee my pants throwing punches so soon after having baby Pā’ū.Second clip was yesterday, I’ve never laughed or smiled so much on the mat as I do these days. The last 6 months have been an absolute blast, feels like I have so much left to grow, and without the weight of the world on my shoulders nothing is holding me back.

Rousey said on “The Lapsed Fan” podcast this month that she was not interested in competing at the much-discussed UFC White House event expected to take place in June. However, she said “never say never” when it comes to her future of stepping back into the octagon.
