Andreas Christensen is in his fourth season at FC Barcelona, having joined as a free agent back in 2022 when his contract at Chelsea expired.
While he has not always been the first-choice starter at the club, the 29-year-old Danish international has proven himself to be a very valuable player for the Blaugrana.
But with his contract expiring on 30 June, 2026, there is uncertainty looming over his future, especially with no renewal offer being tabled by Barça thus far.
Christensen wants to stay
But, according to Mundo Deportivo, despite his contract expiring next year, Christensen wants to remain at Barcelona and hopes to renew his deal. The Danish centre-back is determined to continue his career with the Catalan side.
Although he spent almost all of last season sidelined by injuries, Christensen now feels fully fit again. His goal is to win back the confidence of coach Hansi Flick and prove that he can still be a valuable asset for Barcelona.
The departure of Inigo Martinez to Al Nassr in the summer has created an opening in the starting line-up, as for now, the only untouchable in defence for Flick is Pau Cubarsi.

Christensen is fully aware of the situation and intends to fight the likes of Ronald Araujo and Eric Garcia for a regular place in the starting XI.
Rejected offers in the summer
Christensen received numerous offers during the summer, but at no point did he consider leaving Barcelona.
The Dane was not tempted by the lucrative offers from Saudi Arabia, nor by approaches from the Premier League, where his reputation remains strong after his time at Chelsea, nor from the Bundesliga, nor even from other clubs in La Liga.
Both Christensen and his family feel very comfortable at the club and in the city, and their wish is to remain in Barcelona. In fact, his partner is expecting their third child, and the couple believe they will not find a better place to raise their family.
So far, there has been no contact between the player’s father and agent and Barcelona’s sporting director, Deco, regarding a contract renewal. However, talks in the coming weeks cannot be ruled out.
For the moment, Christensen is focused on working hard and earning Flick’s trust. He knows that only by becoming a key figure in the team will he have a better chance of fulfilling his dream of extending his stay at Barcelona.
