    Melissa Jefferson-Wooden made history at the world championships on Sunday.

    Jefferson-Wooden won the 100-meter women’s final with a time of 10.61 seconds, breaking the world championship record that was previously held by Sha’Carri Richardson (via ESPN).

    Richardson set the previous 100-meter record of 10.65 seconds at the world championships in Aug. 2023. She also competed in Sunday’s race, finishing at No. 5.
