When it comes to Ed Sheeran’s music videos, it’s not just the visuals and songs that have to be on point. Given how much of a horology nut Sheeran is, the watches have to be absolutely next level, too. The artist is one of the most accomplished watch collectors in the world so it will come as absolutely no surprise to anyone that the video for “Camera,” the fifth single off his new album Play, features a very eye-catching watch.
The video for the very poppy “Camera” features Sheeran and British actor Phoebe Dynevor messing around in love and capturing all the moments on camera (see what they’ve done there?). Sheeran has talked about this album being his most personal yet, so presumably this song and video capture the essence of his own relationship to his wife Cherry Seaborn.

Anyway, spoiler alert, but after proposing to Dynevor, watch fans get a big close-up of a distinctly unique-looking watch. Given the big white case, it’s immediately identifiable as an IWC Big Pilot’s Watch. But the dial is pink—very much the color theme to the album—and quite busy with text and subregisters.
That’s because IWC created a one-of-a-kind Big Pilot’s Watch Perpetual Calendar with a custom pink dial specially for Sheeran. You may have noticed at the beginning of Sheeran’s album promo, he was spotted wearing a mystery black ceramic IWC Ingenieur that days later was released at Watches and Wonders, so clearly this is part of a budding friendship he has with the Swiss watchmaker. We’ve seen a similar relationship play out with Audemars Piguet, which has also produced custom novelties for the musician.
Indeed, in a recent interview with Barry Keoghan, Sheeran got to chatting about watches and gave IWC a shoutout, saying that an IWC Pilot’s Watch Mark XX 38mm is automatic, Swiss made and “would last you for your whole life but you’d never get your arm cut off for it.” So it’s clearly a brand he has a lot of love for.
