BREAKIN’ RECORDS IS WHAT SHE DOES 👏

With her 6th assist of the game, Alyssa Thomas (338) breaks Caitlin Clark’s single-season assists record of 337 set back in 2024!

After rewriting the WNBA’s history books during her incredible 2024 Rookie of the Year campaign, one of Caitlin Clark’s most staggering single-season records was broken by a potential league MVP candidate on Saturday.

The league record in reference is Clark’s single-season assist mark, which the former Hawkeye set at 337 helpers last season, was broken on Saturday night as Phoenix forward Alyssa Thomas surpassed the Indiana Fever guard with her 338th assist on the campaign during the second quarter of the Mercury’s eventually shocking 87-84 loss to the now 11-win Connecticut Sun.

As Thomas would finish her night with eight total assists to boost her season total to 340 rebounds, it is worthwhile to note that Clark accomplished her 337 assists through just 40 games played, while Thomas broke the record in her 41st game, with the league now playing a total of 44 contests this season.

Clark missed all but 13 games this season with an injury-plagued sophomore campaign that involved four different extended absences as a result of five separate injuries, including a right groin injury that kept her out of 19 straight games before the Fever shut her 2025 season down on September 4.

Barring any catastrophic casualties as a result of the league’s CBA conflict between the owners and the players’ union that is looming towards a potential lockout, Clark would possibly recapture the assist record next season, with the WNBA most likely expanding its total games to accommodate the additions of the Portland Fire and Toronto Tempo in 2026.
