Power rankings are always interesting to see how they can reflect upon your team and others within your division.
Following the offseason and the preseason, groups are re-evaluating their rosters and projecting them out, incorporating new looks and overhauls based on observations from coaches. The Bucs had one of the better drafts, they had a great offseason, and now the regular season is upon us.
In the pre-Week 1 power rankings over on CBS Sports, they have the Bucs in the sixth spot, up three spots from their final rankings in which they ended the year. They write, “They are loaded. Baker Mayfield will push to win the MVP with some big numbers. The defense will also be much improved.”
The Bucs have a chance to prove how good their defense can be with the modifications they made that include bringing on Haason Reddick, drafting Jacob Parrish, and Benjamin Morrison. On offense, first-round draft pick Emeka Egbuka will get a chance to showcase why he was deserving of the 19th overall selection. However, the offense will be without Chris Godwin, Tristan Wirfs, and Jalen McMillan to start the year.
Lots to prove that they are deserving of that ranking starting in Week 1.
