    From Isaac Job, Uyo

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested seven suspected cultists and recovered a fresh human skull as well as one locally made gun from their hideout in Akwa Ibom State.

Other items recovered include spent packs of cartridges and liquid substances in a bottle believed to have been used for rituals by the cultists.

A statement signed by the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Timfon John, and made available to reporters in Uyo, stated that the suspects were arrested after a student of Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua, reported that he was ambushed and harassed by members of the Ku Klux Klans (KKK) Confraternity.

The police spokesperson said the victim, who had reportedly renounced his membership of the group, was left unconscious with severe injuries.

John disclosed that the assailants also stole a Redmi 13C Android phone and ₦41,000 in cash belonging to the student.

    The statement reads in part:

“On August 28, 2025, operatives of the Command arrested seven suspects in connection with a cult-related assault, armed robbery, and unlawful possession of a firearm and human skull.

“The arrests followed a report received on August 25, 2025, from a student of the Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua, that he was ambushed and attacked with dangerous weapons along Ikot Osurua by members of a proscribed cult group known as the Ku Klux Klans Confraternity.”

She listed the names of the seven suspects arrested during the operations as Douglas Ambe Esikhene, Stephen Asukwo Effiong, Saviour Dany Akpan, Emmanuel Friday Umoh, Augustine Uduak Okon, Mary Ating Asukwo, and Itohowo Christopher Uko.

“During a search of their hideout, operatives recovered one locally made shotgun, seven live cartridges, one fresh human skull, a bottle containing a substance suspected to be black oil, and a bottle of Guyanese oil, believed to be for ritualistic purposes.”

John said an investigation was ongoing with intensive efforts to apprehend other members of the gang.

“Investigation is ongoing, with efforts underway to apprehend other members of the gang and make more recoveries.

“Further developments will be communicated to the public,” she said.
