    From Agaju Madugba, Katsina

Katsina State Governor Umaru Dikko Radda has announced the immediate disbursement of a total of about ₦25 million to families of victims of the recent mosque attack in Malumfashi Local Government Area.

Gunmen suspected to be bandits, on Monday, August 19, attacked a mosque in the Anguwan Mantau community of Malumfashi and slaughtered about 30 worshippers during the dawn prayers, according to the member representing the area at the Katsina State House of Assembly.

Reports said that the hoodlums continued the terror attack with the burning alive of an additional 20 residents in what has turned out to be the most horrific mass murder in recent times in the state.

The governor, who paid a sympathy visit to the community on Wednesday, August 27, assured the people that “all houses destroyed by these criminals will be renovated by the state government.”

Moreover, according to a Government House statement, “Governor Radda further announced ambitious development commitments, including the construction of a modern school and hospital, complete mosque renovation, and improved access roads to enable swift security response.

“The Governor, who cut short his medical leave abroad to personally console the bereaved families, announced immediate relief of ₦500,000 to each affected household alongside transformational development projects for the community.

“Human life is sacred; it is not a game. We have come to grieve with you, to share in your pains.

“Whatever you feel, I feel it in my heart. I too lost a brother to insecurity. That is why I assure you that this administration will continue taking decisive steps to restore peace.

“Governor Radda also directed the Malumfashi Local Government Chairman to collaborate with traditional rulers in mobilising and training youths for community defence.

“He assured residents of ongoing efforts to deploy a military battalion in the Malumfashi zone,” the statement said.
