Welsh welterweight Oban Elliott will fight Jonathan Micallef at the UFC Perth Fight Night in Australia on Saturday, 27 September.

The bout will be Elliott’s first since he suffered his first defeat in UFC against Seok Hyeon Ko in June.

The 27-year-old, nicknamed ‘The Welsh Gangster’, took the fight with Ko in Azerbaijan at short notice, after a May bout with Ramiz Brahimaj in Las Vegas was cancelled because of visa issues.

The unanimous 30-27 decision against him in Baku means Elliott has 12 wins and three losses from his 15 professional bouts.

Australian Micallef boasts an 8-1 professional record and is currently on a three-fight win streak.

Both fighters earned their initial UFC contracts via Dana White’s Contender Series.

The bout at the RAC Arena in Perth is on a card headed by lightweight contenders Carlos Ulberg and Dominick Reyes.
